Over the past decade, social media has become an integral part of our daily lives. It is now common to be surrounded by friends, family, and colleagues that are connected online through various platforms.
There you can find them posting updates, sharing content, chatting, and supporting each other throughout their day. This isn’t limited to just Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram either; there are many different sites out there where people share information and thoughts on a semi-regular basis!
Given how popular social media has become, it makes sense to consider which ones will still be around in two years. What apps will people use to connect with others and what features will they want?
In this article I will be talking about my top twenty favorite social media platforms for users in 2022 and in 2023.

As we mentioned earlier, with over 2 billion monthly active users across their various apps, it is difficult to see how social media giant Facebook could lose popularity anytime soon. With that said, however, there are some indications that suggest they might be struggling to keep up with the growing demands for user privacy and service availability.
If you look at the average person’s smartphone these days, you will almost certainly find that they have downloaded one or more of the many applications offered by Facebook either directly or through an app store like Google Play or Apple Store.
These third-party apps often offer features such as streaming music or video, online shopping, maps, and other functions typically associated with the main Facebook platform.
By offering much less private data than its own site and software, these apps can sometimes compete effectively against the company itself.

With over 1 billion users, it has become one of the most used social media sites in the world! It is also the fastest growing major platform for social networking websites, with new members constantly flocking to use the app.
It’s no wonder why so many people love using the app. You can create an account for free, but you are limited to only having up to 15 pictures per month. This doesn’t stop some artists from uploading lots of art though!
The way you gain more followers is by posting pictures and/or videos that other people will find interesting or entertaining. If your posts are just about yourself, then people won’t interact with them very much, making the community feel smaller than it actually is!
Another thing to note is that while there is no official word limit on what types of content you can upload, anything longer than three minutes is likely to get deleted without warning. Make sure your needs are within this time frame!
Overall, if you want to grow your artist profile on Instagram, focus on adding value to the community and supporting others.

With over half a billion monthly active users, it is no wonder that Twitter has become one of the most used social media platforms in the world. It boasts some impressive statistics as well- nearly 70% use it daily!
Not only does it have almost twice the amount of monthly active users than its closest competitor, but it also has more than three times the number of weekly actives.
This means there are far more people using twitter at any given time to communicate or share thoughts and/or information with others. All this communication can be valuable for your business- whether you’re looking to promote yourself, spread brand messages, find new clients, etc.
It is very easy to use and set up, making it friendly for anyone. If you are already on Twitter, then you know what we're talking about! You can start creating accounts and posting content quickly.
There are many ways to market your business via Twitter. You can create an account specific to your business, launch a business profile, add and manage followers, upload pictures and videos, and increase your follower base through promotions and giveaways.
Overall, there are lots of ways to use Twitter to grow your business.
TikTok

Over the past couple of years, TikTok has become one of the most popular social media apps in the world. The app allows you to create short videos or songs and add music or stickers. Then you can share these videos via your profile or send it to an audience member.
This platform is very well known for their “takes” – some kind of prank video that people upload onto the app. For example, there have been many viral videos where someone puts together a song with lyrics like “How do you feel about white chocolate?” or “Why are we singing this song? It's so sad!”
There was also the time when someone made a parody of Drake’s “Too Bad” featuring Rick Ross as a teacher telling his students how to be successful. Many other teachers had fun responding to this spoof by saying things like “be better than me” and “failure is not an option.”
Overall, these types of jokes seem to inspire creativity in others. People enjoy watching them because they find the humor very funny. In fact, many people now refer to these cleverly written songs and dances as “Tik Toking.” This term quickly caught on and is used commonly today.
Not only does TikTok give users a chance to show off their artistic talents, but it also gives them a way to make money as well.

While some might consider Instagram to be more of an app than a platform, it is still very much part of the social media landscape. Since its launch in 2010, it has gathered over 1 billion users!
It’s no wonder why; with its focus being on creating and sharing content focused on beauty and lifestyle, pictures really do matter here.
By having people create and share their artistic creations and looks, incredible visuals are continually shared. This way, others can get inspired and make looking better their own personal style.
While not as popular as other platforms like Facebook or Twitter, it does remain active and constantly growing. If you’re already a fan, keep using it! It will always be there for you.
Snapchat

Over the past few years, SnapChat has become one of the most popular social media apps out there! It’s now owned by Facebook, but that doesn’t mean people are giving up all hope for the app to survive independently.
Snapchat still boasts over 150 million daily active users (which is twice as many as it had two years ago) and it continues to grow in popularity every year.
It was recently reported that Snapchat added another 6 billion anonymous photo and video “stories” which can be viewed for 24 hours before disappearing. This means that its total story archive size grew by 70 percent in just over a year!
These stories can contain anything you want them to- from funny pictures to personal messages or even videos! If you don’t like what you see, you can easily remove yourself from the story and start again.

Over the past decade, WhatsApp has solidified its position as one of the most popular social media apps around. With over 1 billion monthly active users, it’s become almost impossible to disconnect from the platform.
WhatsApp was first released in 2009, but it wasn’t until 2010 that it really took off. Back then, it was simply referred to as Messenger because it allowed you to send messages via SMS. It also didn’t have any profile pictures or avatars back then.
Since those early years, however, things have changed quite a bit. Now, not only can you add photos and videos, you get full-fledged profiles with all sorts of customization features.
It is worth noting that while Facebook owns Instagram, they don’t own WhatsApp so direct comparisons are inaccurate. However, since both platforms allow you to share posts, stories, and videos, this doesn’t make much difference.
While some might consider switching to another app like Signal or Telegram, none of them offer the level of integration that people love about WhatsApp.
Conclusion
All of these top social media sites listed here are still very popular and used by lots of people around the world! If you’re looking to start your own platform, or need some inspiration, learn from their success and make sure to give credit where it is due.
We would be remiss if we didn’t mention one important thing about staying authentic with your audience. Only use services that you know and trust, and always keep in mind what features your followers want to see.
And lastly, don’t forget to stick around even after you have launched! Keep posting content, engaging with others, and listening to feedback so you can improve your community over time.
